Drinking & Feeding

I have been a part of a Hermeneutical Bible Study for many years now. When I first started, I was overwhelmed by the work required. I felt that I had no business breaking down the Word, seeing what was there and creating a cohesive theme for the passage. I'm sure there were many tiimes the leader wondered just what I was thinking.

There are many times that I can not complete the work. Circumstances, my own procrastination and life's junk gets in the way sometimes. I have never felt that I completed the work for a passage. How deeply can we plumb the depth's of God's Word? There have been many times that I have been frustrated by my own seeming inability to apply learned truths.

Sin & Isolation

The Nose has been taking our Youth Group throuh a review of the traditional Bible Stories with a view to the theological impact of them.  We've just completed a month of looking at the effect of sin on Adam and Eve as well as all of humanity.  While we spent a while looking at the effects, I started wondering if all the effects could be summed up with isolation.  Sin separates us from fellowship with God and with each other.  Adam and Eve's first response was to realize their nakedness, so they clothed themselves and in effect, hid themselves from each other.  Then they hid themselves from God.

London Impressions (Hey All)

Got here, ate and proceeded to sleep from 6pm to 11am the next day (oops). Let's see, to date for theatre we have seen Handel's Messiah (all of it, not just the Easter portion,) Mary Poppins and The Woman in White. All have been great, though we did snooze a few times during Messiah. Been to Kew, the Tower, and Greenwich. We've been trying to navigate the tube system. But David was right, you're good uderground but boy is it tough when you come out. No major blunders yet. This morning we went to services at St. Paul's. It was kind of sad. Then we roamed through the V&A and did a little shopping. Now it's time for feet up and comfy clothes. Poor feet, they definitely need a break.

The Last regarding the City (hopefully)

Well, I am officially off the hook with the city. I received the letter stating that I am in compliance with city ordinances. Also, wonder of wonders, I was not fined by the city for the multiple inspections that were made.

Lastly, for those who care and live in Glendale, there is a person named Steve Hedrick, running for City Council on the platform of the "draconian" fence law. I do not know anything else about his platform.

However, when I win the best landscaping award in the city, I will be sure to post again regarding this issue. ;)

Pondering While Planting

The amazing thing is how I have come to really enjoy gardening. Every Saturday morning I wake up before the sun, get my coffee and breakfast and wait for the sun to get bright enough for me to start working.

Prior to this project I loathed and despised gardening. When I was growing up I was constantly in trouble and grounded. In order to get off of being grounded at the end of my sentence, I had to weed the front flower bed. As a result, there was not much peace to be found crawling around on my hands and knees looking for errant vegetation.

I polish off my coffee, brush off the crumbs of my protein bar and throw away the banana peel.
