Wrapped up the first week in Moldova

Just a quick note to let you know that things are still going well in Molodova. We finished up a 4 days of VBS and had a wonderful time with the children. The first day we had 48 kids.

We had church services in Rascaieti on Wed and Fri nights. Jerry and Patty gave their testimonies. Dave Ricks preached Romans 8:1, and I from Habakkuk.

We made a special trip on thursday night to Cioburciu, a neigboring village, where their is an older Baptist church. Next year they will be celebrating their 75th birthday. One of the pastors, pastor Alosha, is the head of the local chapter of the Christian doctor's union, which is associated with Dr. Leviu in Chisinau. It is his project, as he is also a doctor, to open up a facility to service the Stefan Voda district, which Rascaietti, Antonesti, and Cioburciu are a part of. We had a great time of singing and sharing with this church, and repeated our service from wednesday night, with Jerry's testimony, and Dave Ricks sermon.

Tomorrow David Dobbs will preach in Rascaeti, and Linda Wood will give her testimony. I think they want a second short sermon so I will prepare something from Psalm 8. We will then repeat this service Sunday night in Antonesti.

Monday we will start a project with a local school in Rascaietti. They have a room that they would like us to convert into a classroom. We will be building a brick wall, and painting the room. Should be fun to learn masonry work :) We will probably finish this project on Wednesday.

Tuesday night the whole team will be going to Roman Melancea's church in Tudora. I am very excited to see where my brother has been living and pastoring. I think I will be sharing the Habakkuk message again. The message is meant to encourage the brethren here, encouraging faith through difficult times. The economic situation here is worsening, with many families, and men leaving the country for work.

Wednesday and Friday night we will have our services in Rascaieti again. And then Saturday we need to catch a plane out of Chisinau at 5:30am. The time is already going by quickly but we are savoring every moment. The people here are great as always and we have been greatly encourage by the body of Christ here. The most encouraging thing has been seeing how the church passionately praises God in song, and with prayers from the heart during the service. Hope Church of Rascaeti is a church of prayer, and Pastor Jon's prayers can bring tears in any language. How beautiful are the people of God.

We miss you all, and look forward to sharing with you the work that God has done. I have many pictures, but they are not available at the moment.

Oh, the weather has been absolutely wonderful. This is the first week without rain that they have had. But this has meant that the villages are extremely busy with the fields. Today was the first day it got a bit warmer (84), and we expect some scattered thunderstorms.

MOLDOVA! :)

Buna to everyone!
Thank you so much James for the updates about everyone arriving in Moldova and all the great and wonderful things that have been happening. It's so wonderful to be able to hear about how God is using all of you in Rascaieti & Antonesti. I was so excited to read that you are planning to go to Tudora. I know that it will be a special time for you. Just to be able to encourage the men there and Roma. It's a quaint church and the people in the village are so faithful. It's a shame that so many men are being foreced to leave there famlies to find work in other counties. I know that there families miss them dearly.
How is everyone doing so far? How is the work project going? Have you met any of the teachers at the school or any of the students? Who is translating for you? Please say Hello to Pastor Alexander, his wife and Irina for me. Please share with them Sper sa ne intilnim din nou. I can remember the times of sitting around the table talking and sharing about what had happen that day.
I'm very happy to hear that the weather has been good for you guys. I will be praying that your last few days will be fruitful and that the relationships that have been developing will florish. You all are in my prayers!
