Hello fellow friends and brothers and sisters,
I saw Narnia, at the El Capitan .Wow how amazing it was. Tears were pouring down my face during the entire movie. We went with some people from the singles group at Grace and it was quite an experience. The designs were intricate, music fantastic, acting believable, special effects stunning and of course the idea of Lewis's book made into a movie was fabulous. From a story standpoint aside from the allegory I thought it was wonderful.
Knowing the analogies that Lewis was basing the themes from scipture on, verses were streaming through my mind of how great God is and how merciful. We are so unworthy and He is so good.
"He was pierced through for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities, the chastening of us all was found on him ." "But God demonstrated His own love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us." "He will not let the guilty go unpunished" "we will glory with Him if we indeed suffer with Him" "He breathed the breath of life in us" "He equips us for every good work" "forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead". Josh. 24:18 “The LORD drove out from before us all the peoples, even the Amorites who lived in the land. We also will serve the LORD, for He is our God.” Eph. 2:5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 2Tim. 2:12 If we endure, we will also reign with Him;
If we deny Him, He also will deny us; 1Cor. 15:25 For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. With each of these verses in my mind is a scene from the movie that correlates.
At the end of the movie when Aslan walks away and Lucy is bewildered there is a line that says something like "We don't know where he is going or what He is doing we know He will be back, He is not safe" and they look at each other and Lucy said, But He is Good."
That is so amazing, Our God is Holy which means He is completely separate unique different "His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts" We cannot tame God. We dont know what or why He does certain things in our lives. And in this uncertainty we can rest in the wonderful comfort and assurance that He is good.Is. 45:5 “I am the LORD, and there is no other;
Besides Me there is no God.
I will gird you, though you have not known Me;
Is. 45:6 That men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun
That there is no one besides Me.
I am the LORD, and there is no other,
Is. 45:7 The One forming light and creating darkness,
Causing well-being and creating calamity;
I am the LORD who does all these.
That His plans are for good even when we can't see it. God means if for good. In this story the Kindness of Christ was displayed in so many places. Rom. 2:4 Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? Rom. 11:22 Behold then the kindness and severity of God; to those who fell, severity, but to you, God’s kindness, if you continue in His kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off.
Is. 45:22 “Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth;
For I am God, and there is no other.
Is. 45:23 “I have sworn by Myself,
The word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness
And will not turn back,
That to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance.
Do we see God as the HOly one who deserves all of our devotion and praise, that even in the secret places of our affections He deserves first place. Do we see the penalty of sin He has suffered for us? Do we truly see He knows the plan for all of us and that we can trust in His sovereignty and His goodness in the midst of the most extreme pain and guilt? I praise God for the possibilities of this movie reaching hearts ... lets use it for His Glory....
