I am sitting in a computer lab in the school in Rascaietti. The director of the school did have a small painting project for us, but what she really wanted was a new computer so that the school could access the Internet.
We did buy a computer, which had an enormous impact, and I think will continue to affect the community for some time to come. But we also were able to get the old computer lab up and running. There are 10 old HP workstations, and a old HP netserver. The computers only have 16MB of ram, and most are running windows 95. But we managed to get a shared internet connection through a windows 98 server with an external US Robotics Courier Modem. :)
Anyway, basically looks like they had a lan physically installed in the room but not completed. Now they have 9 computers that can access the internet at the same time, for teaching, or for community use. This was no small feat and included repairing phone lines, getting by hardware locks on the desktops... much of the team was required to accomplish this task.
I need to go real soon, so here are some other updates.
We had our last service with Hope Church of Rascaeitti last night. Dave R. and Chick wrapped up their Evangelism Training (Based on TEAM) by conducting a roll-play. We then had an amazingly intimate time with our Sister church as we consider the fact that our time is coming to a close. There were many encouraging things shared and many tears shed. Its hard to believe that our time is coming to a close.
The evangelistic meetings all week have been both challenging and fruitful. We had 4 persons place their faith in Jesus Christ. This is besides those children at VBS who stood to receive Christ. We will need to be faithful to pray for these who have confessed Christ, that they will grow by attending Hope Church of Rascaeitti.
We may be going to CioBurcio tonight to have a service, as well as see the medical clinic that is being constructed. You may remember from last time that this was to be a local district extension of the Emmanuel Medical facility in Chisinau, run by Dr. Levu. They invited us to see the new facility here, and join them for worship.
We will have one last time of fellowship with our sister church on Friday afternoon at 3:00pm. We are to meet at the church and then maybe head down to the river to spend time.
Our flight leaves at 6:00am from Chisinau, so we will probably be heading to the airport at 2:30am. All of our connecting flights are tight, so pray that things will go smoothly: Chisinau -> Budapest -> London -> LA
You can also pray for Grace church of Antonesti, as a member has died this morning. Her name is Natasha, and she is a 29 year old mother of 3. She died this morning of Lukemia. Her husband is not saved, but is a good man and runs the mill in the village. There are plans being made for funeral preparations, and we don't know how this will yet affect the rest of our time here. Last night Pastor Alexander was at their house, and the mother and the children were praying and singing songs. She was a strong believer in Jesus Christ and is now home with our Lord and Savior. Pray that her husband would come to faith, and for both the children, and others in the village. Natasha is related to several of our families and interpreters. The closest of whom is Slavic, our main interpreter. Some of us were present when Jon told him the news of her passing in the van this morning. Slavic is a dear brother we have become very close to and could use prayer as this loss impacted him greatly.
We love you all and though it will be sad to leave our brothers and sisters here, long to see you again as well.
May the Grace and Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ who unites us all in love and fellowship be praised.
