Sixpence None the Richer closes shop

I happened to browse to the Sixpence NTR web site last night. I hadn't been there in a few months and decided to see what was up with the band these days. The bad news came on Feb 18th:

The good news is further down the page. Leigh Nash (the lead singer) had a son on January 12th. :)

I will always love Sixpence. Their music was beautiful! The name of their band had deep meaning. In their success they never changed their quiet humility. They never backed down from their faith. I'm sure it was always fun for them to explain where the name of the band came from when they were interviewed on radio and TV!

I will certainly miss them!

What A Bummer!

No way! I'm bummed! Sixpence is one of my all time favorite bands. I was thrilled when they finally resolved their contract dispute and released "Sixpence None the Richer". I thoroughly enjoyed "Divine Discontent". And, after listening for 7 years, I still can't get enough of "This Beautiful Mess." They'll be greatly missed.

I'll never forget

I'll never forget the first time that Jeff and I saw them, at LaLaPaloma. There equipment truck or something got stuck, and so they almost totally missed the event. So only those that were fans stayed late to see them. I don't remember how many stayed, but it wasn't many. Jeff and I stood right below the stage, and it was generally chummy.

Afterwards we are able to go up and talk to Leigh, we of course, as unattached young gentleman, were totally taken aback by her. She was so humble and basically just thanked us for staying and told us about what happened to delay them.

Just thinking back I think we saw them quite a few times, at the Vinyard, some place out in Redlands, for the Kiss Me single release party in Hollywood, I can't remember the details of the others.

Anyway, they will soarly be missed. But I doubt we've heard the last of Matt Slocum, if you don't know who he is, and you own a bunch of Christian CD's, and you hear some great Cello in the background, check the credits, and his name will be there. As a writer, and arranger, and as an instrumentalist he is amazing.

I thought the same when PFR stopped playing

Maybe in 5 years they'll get back together and put out another album...
