How Do You Vote?

No, I don't want you to tell me who you're voting for, whether it's a congressional seat or minister of dog catching; but, I am curious as to why you vote.

I had this conversation a while back and found it interesting. Someone, who I thought more more politically "center," surprised me with his view on voting. He said that it was his intention to vote according to the issues. We agreed that we are both Libertarian in our thinking, but he was choosing to vote L and I wasn't. The rationals are plain enough, I don't want to waste my vote and he wants to vote his "conscience."

Ted Turner Is a Nut

So Ted turner has fallen off the wagon and slipped off his cracker. He now says he cannot choose sides in the war on terror and that US based news media that broadcasts to the rest of the world should not use the American flag as a background.

I think I loath judges

This is, again, inspired by CO's original blog on [Secular Fundamentalism].

I will update this entry soon, but judges are starting to make me sick.

A Closer Look at Secular Fundamentalism

CO raises the issue of "Secular Fundamentalism," I think it a good idea to delve a little deeper into this topic, simply because it is one of the great fundamentalisms and dangers of our age.

But first, some definitions:

fun-da-ment-tal-ism: A movement or point of view characterized by rigid adherence to fundamental or basic principles.

sec-u-lar-ism: 1) Religious skepticism or indifference. 2) The view that religious considerations should be excluded from civil affairs or public education

The above definitions come from the American Heritage Dictionary: third edition, no friend of conservatism, but a good source for words.

Let us parse these definitions, just a little.
