I was a substitute teacher in a combination tenth/eleventh grade social studies/history class in the Pasadena Unified School District. The regular teacher left for me a handout about feudalism and the granting of fiefs, etc... I wanted to compare the differences between feudalism to slavery to make the topic more interesting. This is where it gets scary.
